I haven't stopped painting my nails though and I just got so excited because yesterday was my birthday (okay now two days ago) and I got the most awesome gift ever from my friend Yvette! She sent me a bottle of Chanel Taboo! I have always wanted to get Taboo. I even told myself that if I ever decided to spend upward to $30 on a bottle of polish it would be Chanel Taboo. I was so giddy that I had to put it on right away! And I love it! It's a little vampy for the middle of summer, but it is gorgeous. I don't even know how to describe the color it is deep vampy purple with a fiery shimmer and what looks like blue microflakies. This is pretty much one coat. Some fingers I dragged a little too much and added a second coat, but if you are careful one coat is more than enough. The application was a little harder than I thought it would be because the bristles on the Chanel brush is so long that it was little hard to maneuver around my nails.

Chanel Taboo
Why hello there strangers! Long time no see! I haven't been posting in a while because I started a new journey and new blog trying to build brain highways with my son :).

I hate how I can't capture it's true beauty on my camera phone, but the macro pic gives a little better idea of how complex and pretty this polish is! This is officially the most expensive bottle of polish I own! What is yours?

Polish Addict Nail Color: Spring Equinox
Good Morning! Yes it is really freaking early in the morning. I have an indie polish I wanted to share on the world wide web. I have been really obsessing over Instagram lately and have found so many new indie polish brands because of the community on there. One of the many I found is Polish Addict Nail Polish. I have been following this brand for a while now, but never got around to purchasing anything until last month. They were offering a grab bag for $35 + shipping and had a code for $10 off! I am such a sucker for these types of deals so I had to get it!!! This is what came in the mail. 4 full size nail polishes, 2 mini polishes, cuticle oil (in mini bottle) and a nail file.
| Grab bag from Polish Addict Nail Color |
I have been in a polish funk lately, and have been polishing my nails maybe once a week. One week I had naked nails for the whole week! Eeeek! Such a shame since I have amassed such a lovely polish collection. Then of course when I try to decide what to wear my mind goes blank. For tonight I picked Spring Equinox. It is a very pretty pink jelly with a mix of gold and large holographic glitters. *update: I just saw this polish in natural light and it has small green glitters tooa. I die! Love green glitters! There is also a holographic shimmer in this. This polish looks so soft and sweet. Application was great. Below is three coats. There is still a visible nail line, but it doesn't bother me so much. The polish looks beautiful!!
One thing about the bottle that I was impressed with when I grabbed it from my drawer is how suspended all the glitters were. I did not shake this bottle at all and it has been in my drawer for a few weeks now. I do notice that most of my other indie glitter bombs have sinking glitter. So this mean that there was absolutely no fishing required! Well I didn't fish, but I don't have the large holographic glitters on each nail. So if you do want that on each nail then you might have to fish. But I was impressed with my first bottle of this brand! Can't wait to try the rest!!
You can purchase Polish Addict Nail Color here! Not sure if this is discontinued because it came in the grab bag, but they have tons of beautiful polishes.

Shimmer Polish: Karen
I'm so excited about showing you all this! Recently Shimmer Polish was having a major giveaway on her Facebook page where everyone who was a fan was eligible for a prize! She had 40 winners and my blog was one of them! I was soooooo excited! I always see Shimmer Polishes on blogs and everyone raves about the awesome formula and complexity of the polishes. I don't know why but she took pity on me and sent me 5 polishes because she said my blog was cute! What? Ahhhh! I'll love her forever now. :) Since I'm not a swatching queen I'm going to show these one at a time as I use them in my mani.
Today I have on Karen! I used Sinful Colors' Starfish polish as a base. I always wished I had a Shimmer Polish when I think of doing a glitter gradient. It seems like the most perfect polish for it and it is! So, the first thing I did with my Shimmer mani was attempt to do a reverse glitter gradient on all the nails except for my accent nail which is 2.5-3 coats of Karen on it's own. It was a noble attempt, but not perfect, you can see how I didn't seem to get the glitter all the way to base of my nail. I am loving this mani because Karen is sooooooo sparkly and glittery (never had a glitter polish with this much sparkle!) the girly girl in me is just all giddy over this polish! Thank you so much Cindy! Can't wait to try the others!
You can buy Shimmer Polishes here or on Etsy!

Hard Candy Crush on Lava
I recently added a new Hard Candy polish to my collection. When I heard that Crush on Lava was suppose to be similar to their famed Beetle polish, I rushed out to get it. I don't have Beetle to compare, but I love this! I layered Crush on Lava over black polish. Although you can get it opaque on it's own. I'm so loving this color shift.

Julep Maven 2013 February Box
Hello all! I wanted to show you what I got in this month's subscription box from Julep. I've been a Julep Maven since about last September, but only got like two boxes. You can skip any month that you don't want, which is totally awesome! To be honest my two boxes were my 1 cent box and a box I forgot to cancel. I didn't think these were a great deal. It is a really expensive polish @ $14.95 a pop (cheaper if you are a maven), and it is a small bottle 8ml of polish a typical bottle has 15ml of polish.
So if you subscribe and are a Julep Maven every month you get 2 polishes for $19.99 plus a bonus item which is a great deal if you love high end polishes. They will also send you deals on their stock of polishes from time to time. Every month they send you an e-mail that the period to change your monthly box is open. It is usually open from the 20th-24th then you can't change it, so if you don't want the box that would be the time to skip. Instead of cancelling my subscription I like to see what they are offering so I log on every month. When I saw what they were offering for February I seized the opportunity!
Here is what they offered
2 - Polishes
1 - Oxygen Nail Treatment
1 - Freedom Top Coat - a polymer topcoat that cures under the light in a minutes!
So that is like 4 polishes for $19.99. I had been looking for a nail treatment, and I'm always down for trying new top coats, and this top coat sounded buzz worthy.
here! I've used my referral link. Use the code "PENNY" to get your first box for a penny! ;)
